Highlights
from the Minutes of the Annual Board Meeting: October 2002 Friends
of Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary held its last Annual Board of Directors
Meeting on Thursday, October 17, 2002. Following are some excerpts of the
proceedings:
 | The President's Report is summarized on
the main page of this news section.
|
 | The Treasurer reported that Narbeck
continues to enjoy a positive cash flow, due mainly to grants/gifts,
board fees, contributions and new member fees.
|
 | A number of projects, programs and
ideas were discussed as a part of Board reports, as well as a part of
new business:
 | The possibility of establishing a
"nature center" at the park was discussed. The Board reached
a consensus to amend Article I of the FNWS Bylaws to allow FNWS to
lend support to the development of some type of facility, consistent
with Narbeck objectives, preferably in conjunction with broader based
organizations.
|
 | Further research into bird species
counts was endorsed, which may lead to the introduction of
"natural birdhouses" in the Park.
|
 | The need for better testing and
monitoring equipment to support the ongoing macroinvertebrate
survey in the Park was discussed. The Board supported a reasonable
expenditure to rent such equipment on a once-a- quarter basis, which
will also help provide for better educational tools for schoolchildren
volunteer programs.
|
 | $500 was authorized to be combined with contributions from 15 other
non-profit groups to take out a 2-page "Thank You" ad in the
Everett Herald honoring the contributions of time, money and effort on
the part of the Boeing Company and its Employees. |
