From the Board of Directors                        April 2003

Dear Friends;

It is with deep sorrow and sense of loss that we forward this mention of Darryl Thompson's passing on Saturday, March 29th.  Darryl was 56 years of age and had struggled valiantly for years against a progressive lung disease.  He was one of the most respected representatives within the environmental community and was recognized last year by Friends of Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary with a Lifetime Achievement Award.  Darryl and his family spoke fondly of the thoughtful recognition given him by FNWS.

The good news is that Darryl lived an inspiring life and the natural environment will benefit for generations to come because of the lasting impressions he made on many of us, that we should be about the business of protecting the environment.

A private memorial service for his family was held on Sunday April 6.  If you would like to remember Darryl formally, his family requests that donations be made to Pilchuck Audubon Society, 1803 Hewitt Avenue, #108, Everett, WA  98201.

In Friendship,

Jim Maynard:
FNWS President
Bill Lewallen:
FNWS Vice President Finance
