The Secret Life of Bugs at Narbeck
Four "Collection Stations" Established at Narbeck

Clicking on the bug above will always return you to our Home Page

Their are four macroinvertebrate sampling stations established now around Narbeck. These stations will remain constant so that valid comparisons of samples taken over time can be made.

Station 01

Station 1 is the natural outdoor Educational Amphitheater.

Station 02

Station 2 is off the central portion of the Boardwalk.

Station 03

Station 3 is off the portion of the Boardwalk west of station 2.

This pond has dense cattail stands and young alder trees around the edges.  Samples taken from this station included quite a bit of plant material (old cattail fronds, for instance) and abundant insect larvae.  The vegetation here is delicate and we were careful to make as few trips as possible into the wetland buffer to avoid trampling plants.

Station 04

Station 4 is located in the pond east of the dead-end street that extends from the Narbeck wetland parking lot.

The pond receives stormwater via a culvert at its northern end.  Our sampling station is at the southern end of the pond not far from the boardwalk.
