The Secret
Life of Bugs at Narbeck

|
Narbeck
Wetland Sanctuary
is a 50 acre natural drainage site in the
urban western portion of Snohomish County in the State of Washington, USA. For many
decades simply a neglected swampland, it has now been developed into an exemplary wetland
model, the result of an ambitious and foresighted program to help counterbalance the
effects of the urbanization and development by streamlining the process that created it.
Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary Park has been developed as a living example to illustrate the
need for runoff and erosion control, habitat for wildlife species of all kinds, and a
lifetime of environmental education and involvement for all of the people in the
communities in its region.
The Friends of Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary is a group of individuals who
represent a cross-section of the community of Snohomish County, as well as the entire
Puget Sound region, who are dedicated to preserving the health of Narbeck Wetland
Sanctuary and promoting the preservation and re-creation of wetlands everywhere. This
website will inform you about the many aspects of the concept and the creation of this
unique wetland park You will learn about wetlands and why we need them, about the efforts
of the Friends of Narbeck to create this particular special Sanctuary, and about the
activities which go on here in support of the environment and the enrichment of human
knowledge and stewardship.
